So you want to renew your Expired USA Passport? You have several options when doing this, all of which depend on your current status and your location. We’ll talk more about them as we go along in this article. First we’ll begin by talking about renewing your passport by mail.
If you’re after convenience, then applying for a passport renewal by mail is the option for you. The good thing about this is that you no longer need to go to the passport office just to submit the requirements for your passport renewal. With this option, you simply have to mail all the requirements, and you’ll just have to wait for the new passport, which will also arrive by mail.
There are restrictions as to who can renew their passports by mail, however. First of all, your passport needs to be in a good condition. It means the passport office will not accept damaged passports. Aside from that, your passport must have been issued within the last 15 years, or when you are already 16 years old. You can also renew your passport by mail if it contains your legal name. If not, you should at least be able to legally document your name change.
In case your passport has been damaged, or you do not meet the other requirements mentioned above, then you will have to submit your passport renewal application in person. Don’t worry though, if you have to do this. It’s just an extra measure to ensure that the passport is issued to the right person.
Another requirement for passport renewal by mail is that you should be based in the US or Canada. So if you are based in either of these countries, then you can just download Form DS-82 at the US Department of State’s website and fill in all the necessary details. After accomplishing this form, you can then submit it to the passport office by mail, along with the other necessary documents.
If you are living outside the US or Canada, however, you cannot choose to apply for an Expired American Passport renewal by mail. You will then need to visit your nearest US Embassy or Consulate for your passport renewal. Just provide them with the necessary requirements and they will help you process your passport. Keep this in mind just in case you are traveling to a foreign destination.
When sending your passport application by mail, make sure that you use a traceable method of delivery. All modern courier services already provide this kind of service. Doing this will ensure that you can keep track of your documents until they arrive at the passport office. Also keep your documents safe and dry by sending them using a durable envelope.
In general, it will take four to six weeks to process your Expired Passport renewal. This is unless, of course, you choose to have it expedited, which cuts the processing time to just two to three weeks. Now you know how to renew your expired passport.

When I Am Playing With My Cat, How Do I Know That She Is Not Playing With Me? (Hardcover) $18.93 This delightful introduction to the life and works of Montaigne explains the enduring relevance of this sixteenth-century genius.  Michel Montaigne’s life as an essayist began in a period of crushing depression brought on by the deaths of a daughter, his brother, his father, and his closest friend. With his country embroiled in a bloody religious war, the French aristocrat withdrew to the tower library of his family estate outside Bordeaux and resolved to write and to prepare himself for his own death.  Out of Montaigne’s grief came one of the most important literary works in history: Les Essais, his “attempts” to understand his world and life through scholarship and personal reflection. With these writings—which consider subjects as varied as friendship, war, travel, cannibalism, and even the  oft-neglected thumb—Montaigne recovered his sense of wonder and curiosity, and his zeal for life. That his work has captivated readers for more than four hundred years is a result, as Saul Frampton makes clear, of Montaigne’s irresistible mix of introspection and open-mindedness, an intelligence  that—in our world of confessional memoirs and blogs about the details of daily life—still feels thoroughly modern.  When I Am Playing with My Cat . . . brings us closer to one of the most humane, wise, and enchanting writers in the history of Western literature. |
